5.Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Announces First Two Candidates for Lok Sabha Elections

Jharkhand’s Top 5 News Of 5th April

JMM has revealed its initial list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Nalin Soren, an MLA, has been nominated as the candidate for the Dumka seat. In the 2019 elections, party president Shibu Soren had contested from this constituency but was defeated by BJP’s Sunil Soren. This time, the BJP has chosen Shibu Soren’s elder daughter-in-law, Sita Soren, as its candidate for the Dumka seat.

For the Giridih Lok Sabha seat, JMM has put forward former minister and MLA Mathura Mahato, who will be up against AJSU Party candidate CP Chaudhary. In the previous elections, JMM had fielded the late Jagannath Mahato from this seat.

Earlier on Thursday, Chief Minister Champai Soren and Minister Basant Soren visited Birsa Munda Jail to meet the former Chief Minister and working president of the party, Hemant Soren. Following Hemant’s approval, the candidates’ names were announced in the afternoon.

JMM is expected to announce more candidate names in the coming days after reaching a consensus on other constituencies. There is ongoing discussion within the alliance regarding seats such as Dhanbad, Chaibasa, Palamu, and Chatra. As a result, Congress has already declared candidates for three seats, while JMM has announced for only two seats.

There were speculations about the Dumka seat, suggesting that former Chief Minister Hemant Soren might contest from there this time. However, with Sita Soren becoming the BJP candidate, JMM decided to avoid any conflict or disunity within the Soren family. This led to the decision to nominate Nalin Soren instead of Hemant Soren.

All attention is now focused on the candidate for the upcoming bye-election in the Gandey seat of Giridih. Speculations suggest that Kalpana Soren might be the JMM candidate for this seat.
