During the Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand, assistant teachers have opposed the appointment examination for assistant teachers (para-teachers). Pramod Kumar, the state president of the Successful Assistant Teachers’ Union, stated that all types of leave for teachers are canceled during the election code of conduct. Teachers are undergoing training for the elections, and they are also engaged in BLO (Booth Level Officer) duties.

Therefore, taking exams during the elections will cause significant inconvenience to assistant teachers. They won’t be able to prepare adequately for the exams, and a considerable number of teachers will be unable to participate in the exams. The union’s delegation met with Ravi Kumar, the Chief Electoral Officer of the state, regarding this matter.

The delegation informed the Chief Electoral Officer that exams are scheduled for April 27, and training for elections is also ongoing in various districts until 5 p.m. on April 26. In this scenario, teachers will be unable to participate in the exams. Students will have to go to other districts to take the exams.

The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission has announced the date of the appointment examination for 26,000 assistant teachers. In the appointment of assistant teachers, 50 percent of the positions are reserved for assistant teachers.
