Jharkhand’s Vision: Budget 2024 Emphasizes Farmers’ Welfare and Education

Jharkhand Legislative Assembly’s budget session, Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon presented a budget of Rs 1,28,900 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25. The Champai government has notably kept the welfare of the state’s farmers in mind during this budget allocation.

Jharkhand’s Vision: Budget 2024

  • Boost for Farmers: The government has decided to increase loan waivers from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh, providing significant relief to farmers. Additionally, farmers holding NPAY accounts will also be included in this scheme.
  • Agriculture and Animal Husbandry: A provision of Rs 40,606.57 crore has been made for agriculture and animal husbandry.
  • Economic Growth: The Finance Minister announced plans to connect 90,000 rural families with women entrepreneurship in the next fiscal year. The government aims to achieve an economy of Rs 10 trillion by the year 2030.
  • Infrastructure Development: The budget includes a provision of Rs 2,238.06 crore for irrigation facilities and expanding irrigation capacity. Rs 11,316 crore has been allocated for rural development, and Rs 2,066.08 crore for Panchayati Raj institutions.
  • Focus on Education: Pregnant women will receive maternal kits, and a budget of Rs 8,021.93 crore has been allocated for women, children, and social security. This includes provisions for clothing, oil, soap, buckets, and more. The Finance Minister announced that 325 leader schools will be opened in the next fiscal year.
  • Education Allocations: Rs 12,314.21 crore has been allocated for primary and secondary education, and Rs 2,411.77 crore for higher and technical education. Additionally, labs will be established in 117 schools for vocational education.
  • Other Allocations: The budget includes Rs 7,223 crore for strengthening health facilities, Rs 4,686.67 crore for water supply and sanitation, Rs 2,860.27 crore for food, public distribution, and consumer affairs, and Rs 1,053.27 crore for employment and training.
  • Infrastructure Projects: To improve traffic flow, flyovers will be constructed from Sirmatoli Chowk to Rajendra Chowk, Kantatoli Toll Plaza, Sahajanand Chowk to Jaj Colony, Karamtoli-Science City flyover on Morabadi Road, and Vikas Vidyalaya to Namkum flyover in Ranchi.

This budget reflects the government’s commitment to holistic development, aiming to uplift farmers, improve education, strengthen healthcare, and enhance infrastructure in Jharkhand.
