Ranchi’s officials demonstrate their commitment to active living by securing a notable position in the annual Freedom to Walk, Cycle, and Run Challenge organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the Central Government.

City Leaders Excel in Two Quarters:

Under this challenging initiative, 15 state government officials from Ranchi actively participated in various competitions held in two quarters. Ranchi has proudly secured the third position in the country for promoting Freedom to Walk.

Felicitation Ceremony Highlights:

The felicitation ceremony, held at Pimpri-Chinavad on Saturday, January 13, 2024, witnessed Kunal Kumar, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Central Government, bestowing honors upon the city. Representing Ranchi Smart City, General Manager Rakesh Kumar Nandakuliar and Public Relations Officer Amit Kumar received this prestigious accolade on behalf of Ranchi.

Individual Achievement Recognized:

In the individual competition category for Freedom to Walk, Rakesh Kumar Nandakuliar, General Manager Technical at Ranchi Smart City, secured the second and third positions in Quarter One and Quarter 2, respectively. The Ministry awarded Nandakuliar two certificates for his outstanding performance in both quarters, showcasing his consistent dedication to active living initiatives.

National Workshop Highlights Street Programs:

A two-day national-level workshop organized in Pimpri-Chinavad by the Smart City Mission, under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, provided insights into street programs and public spaces initiatives nationwide. The workshop featured live activities and showcased Ranchi’s achievements, including the redevelopment of Zakir Hussain Park and place-making near Morabadi Maidan, undertaken jointly by Ranchi Smart City Corporation and Ranchi Municipal Corporation.

Showcasing Ranchi’s Initiatives:

Posters depicting the collaborative efforts of Ranchi Smart City Corporation and Ranchi Municipal Corporation in place-making activities, along with the redevelopment of Zakir Hussain Park, were showcased during the workshop. Additionally, posters highlighting the creation of roadside footpaths and cycle tracks were exhibited in the ABD area of Ranchi Smart City.

Ranchi’s commendable performance in the Freedom to Walk, Cycle, and Run Challenge reflects its dedication to promoting active lifestyles and sustainable urban development.
