Jharkhand Government Teams Up with IHCL to Build Taj Hotel in Ranchi

Enhancing the infrastructure in the capital city of Jharkhand, Ranchi, the state government has taken a major step. The government has decided to provide a lease of six acres in the core capital area to Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), a subsidiary of the Tata Group, for the construction of a Taj Hotel in the city.

This decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, where unanimous approval was granted. Taj Hotels, a leading company under the Tata Group, is renowned for developing prestigious hospitality destinations in India and around the world. This aligns with Jharkhand Tourism Policy 2021, wherein an agreement was reached with Tata on this matter.

Proved the allocation of a six-acre plot

The state government has approved the allocation of a six-acre plot, owned by Greater Ranchi Development Agency Limited, near the Legislative Assembly, to IHCL. The upcoming Taj Hotel is expected to feature 200 rooms, banquet halls, and other amenities. The government has ensured the provision of essential services such as electricity and water supply in the area through Jharkhand State Electricity Board and other agencies. This decision received unanimous support in the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

“Cyber Police Stations to Open in Eight Districts”

The cabinet has given approval to a proposal from the Home Department to open cyber police stations in eight districts of the state. These cyber police stations will be established in Ranchi, Latehar, Hazaribagh, Dumka, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Chaibasa, and Saraikela-Kharsawan districts.

“Azim Premji Foundation to Open Medical College in Itki”

In Thakurgaon, located in Itki near the capital city Ranchi, the state government will allocate 146 acres of land to the Azim Premji Foundation for an expenditure of 22.16 crore rupees. The foundation will also establish a medical college on this land. The state government has approved a concessional lease arrangement, providing the foundation with a 75% discounted rate for a lease period of 99 years.
