Central government has chosen 325 government schools in Jharkhand under the ‘PM Shri’ scheme. Among these, the highest number, 26 schools, are from Palamu district. Meanwhile, 25 schools are selected from Garhwa, and 20 schools each from Ranchi and P. Singhbhum. The least, seven schools, are chosen from Khunti district. The state government has provided information to the respective districts about the selected schools.

Development as Model Schools

Selected schools under the scheme will be developed as model schools under the National Education Policy-2020. These schools will receive two crore rupees each over the next five years for the development of basic infrastructure. The scheme will provide 60% of the funds from the central government and 40% from the state government. Other schools will also be prepared based on these selected schools.

Instructions Sent to Districts

In this regard, a letter has been sent to the districts by the Jharkhand Education Project on behalf of the Ministry of Education. It stated that the Education Ministry will demand an annual budget for the implementation of the PM Shri scheme from the Government of India. Information on the development of basic infrastructure in schools has also been provided to the districts. Annual work plans are to be prepared according to the given guidelines and criteria.

Modern Technologies for Education

In the selected schools, modern technologies will be used to teach children. Special attention will also be given to smart classrooms, laboratories, and sports facilities.

Selection of 14,500 Schools Nationwide

Under the PM Shri scheme, the selection of 14,500 schools from across the country is underway. Schools are first selected at the state level and then sent to the center. Only schools meeting the criteria are selected for this scheme. From Jharkhand alone, 509 schools were sent to the Ministry of Education last year, out of which 325 have been chosen.
