Utkarsh Kumar, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Ranchi, has issued an order prohibiting the carrying of weapons and any form of gathering or demonstration within a 100-meter radius from the boundaries of the Chief Minister’s residence, Raj Bhavan, and the office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) located in Hinoo. This decision comes in anticipation of a protest march organized by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) against the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The JMM alleges that the ED is engaging in harassment of its leaders and workers under the guise of investigations.
The JMM has declared its intention to lead a protest march from Morabadi ground to Raj Bhavan on Tuesday, anticipating the participation of over one lakh people. Alongside the march, the party plans to submit a memorandum to Governor Ramesh Bais, expressing their grievances against the ED.
To maintain law and order and prevent any potential disturbances, Section 144 has been enforced in key areas, including Raj Bhavan, Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s residence, the ED office, Morabadi ground, and Albert Ekka Chowk.
In response to the protest, the district administration has deployed a significant police force and set up barricades at strategic locations to deter protesters. Traffic movement has been redirected on specific routes to ensure public safety.
The ED is actively investigating cases related to money laundering and the coal scam in Jharkhand. Recently, the agency summoned JMM chief Shibu Soren, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, his brother Basant Soren, and several other party leaders and workers for questioning.
The JMM strongly alleges that the ED is acting on behalf of the BJP-led central government, aiming to tarnish the party’s image and discredit its leaders. The party asserts its determination to resist external pressures and pledges to continue advocating for the rights of the people of Jharkhand.
