Khunti district in Jharkhand is gearing up for an exciting educational initiative called Project Rail, set to commence on July 14. With a vision to provide quality education, this program aims to transform the learning outcomes for children in the region. Under Project Rail, 14 secondary schools in the Khunti block, along with two secondary and high schools from each block, will be carefully selected for regular assessment of learning outcomes in mathematics, science, and social science.
In preparation for this groundbreaking endeavor, teachers from the selected schools will undergo comprehensive training on July 8. Deputy Commissioner Shashi Ranjan shared this information during a recent meeting of the education department, emphasizing the commitment to ensure every child receives the best possible education.
The core aspect of Project Rail is the implementation of weekly tests, designed to assess the children’s understanding of the subjects taught in the selected schools. These tests will be based on objective questions aligned with the curriculum. This innovative approach will enable educators to evaluate the learning levels and progress of the students on a daily basis. To facilitate this process, a dynamic dashboard will be created, integrating weekly exams, curriculum information, and student performance analysis. This dashboard, linked to the National Informatics Centre (NIC), will serve as a valuable tool for tracking the educational journey of each child.
In addition to academic assessments, Deputy Commissioner Shashi Ranjan stressed the importance of holistic school evaluations. The district education department has been instructed to prepare comprehensive reports on various aspects, including basic infrastructure, teacher availability, student attendance, smart classroom utilization, and other activities conducted within the schools. Furthermore, a district-level committee will conduct inspections of the plus two schools, ensuring their adherence to the highest educational standards.
To foster an enriching educational environment, the initiative encourages various activities such as School Management Committee (SMC) engagement, timely parent meetings, regular student-led cleanliness drives, tree plantation initiatives, the establishment of gardening clubs, and fire mock drills. The program also highlights the significance of regular assessment and support for girls preparing for engineering and medical entrance exams under the Dream Flight program, particularly those attending Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya.
