Under the Jharkhand’s Chief Minister Education Incentive Scheme in Jharkhand, students aspiring to prepare for medical, engineering, and other entrance exams will now need to complete their 10th-grade education within the state. Those passing the 10th grade from schools in other states must provide a proof of local residency in Jharkhand. Currently, the process is underway to enlist coaching institutes for the implementation of this scheme.
Compulsory 10th-grade Education in Jharkhand for Exam Preparation
As per the Chief Minister’s Education Incentive Scheme, pursuing 10th-grade education within Jharkhand has been made mandatory for free preparation of medical, engineering, and other entrance exams. A proof of local residency in Jharkhand is required for those who have completed their 10th grade from schools in other states.
Eligibility Criteria and Benefits of the Scheme
The scheme’s operational guidelines, released by the Department of Higher and Technical Education, mention that the benefit of this scheme will be extended to students whose parents’ annual income does not exceed eight lakh rupees. To avail the benefits, they need to submit a certificate issued by the Block Officer or District Magistrate. Additionally, children from families covered under the National and State Food Security Scheme will also be eligible for this initiative.
Application Process Through Web Portal
The Department of Higher and Technical Education is currently in the process of listing coaching institutes for the implementation of the scheme. Standard criteria have been established for the selection of coaching institutes. The department is also developing a web portal for the online application process. Students can apply through the web portal, and it is noteworthy that selected students will not only receive free coaching but also a monthly financial aid of INR 2,500 during the coaching period.
Seat Allocation for Different Programs
The number of seats allocated for engineering entrance exams is three thousand, two thousand for medical, one thousand for CLAT, and five hundred each for mass communication, fashion technology, and hotel management. Additionally, five hundred seats each are designated for CA and ICWA programs.
Selection Criteria Based on 10th-grade Marks
Selection for the free coaching program will be based on the 10th-grade marks obtained by students. A board list will be prepared based on their marks.
Verification Process for Overwhelming Applications
In case the number of applications exceeds one and a half times the total available seats, the Department of Higher and Technical Education will verify and create a panel for 1.5 times the seats. This panel will remain valid for two years.
