JMM party announced on Tuesday that the state’s former minister Joba Manjhi will contest against Geeta Koda, the wife of former Chief Minister Madhu Koda, from the Singhbhum Lok Sabha seat. The party has once again expressed confidence in Vijay Hansda for the Rajmahal Lok Sabha seat. Manoharpur MLA Manjhi will be facing Geeta Koda, who recently joined the BJP, in the upcoming elections. The BJP had earlier nominated Sita Soren, the sister-in-law of Hemant Soren, from the Dumka seat.
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) had last week nominated its Shikaripara MLA Nalin Soren from the Dumka Lok Sabha seat, making it clear that former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who is currently in jail, will not contest from this constituency as previously speculated. The BJP had already nominated Sita Soren, the former MLA from Jharmundi and Hemant Soren’s sister-in-law, as the candidate from the Dumka seat.
The party has also shown confidence in these names:
- Shibu Soren’s grandson Mathura Prasad Mahato will contest from the Giridih Lok Sabha seat.
- The Congress announced candidates for three Lok Sabha constituencies on March 27 – Kalicharan Munda, Sukhdev Bhagat, and Jay Prakash Patel will contest elections from Khunti (ST), Lohardaga (ST), and Hazaribagh seats respectively.
Regarding the seat allocation in the ‘India’ alliance for Jharkhand, the final agreement has been reached. According to the alliance leaders, the seat allocation for all 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state has been finalized. According to the agreement, the Congress will contest on seven seats, and the JMM will contest on five seats. Additionally, the RJD and CPI (ML) Liberation will each contest from one seat. The Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand will begin on May 13 and will be held in four phases.
