The Indian government has decided to change the name of the current Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres to ‘Ayushman Arogya Mandir’ with the tagline ‘Arogyam Parmam Dhanam.‘ The Union Health Ministry has asked all states and union territories to complete this renaming process by the end of 2023.Transforming Healthcare
As part of this initiative, states are instructed to share pictures of the rebranded primary health facilities on the AB-HWC portal. The Ministry emphasized that the National Health Mission (NHM) logo should remain in the rebranded centers.
According to a letter dated November 25, the wellness centers have successfully shifted the focus of healthcare delivery from illness to wellness. To further the vision of Ayushman India, the decision has been made to rename the Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres as ‘Ayushman Arogya Mandir’ with the tagline ‘Arogyam Parmam Dhanam.’
If languages other than Hindi or English are used for branding, the full title can be translated into the state language(s), but the tagline must be transliterated. The estimated cost for renaming each facility is Rs 3,000.
Once the rebranding is complete, states are required to upload new photos of primary health facilities with the updated name on the AB-HWC portal. Currently, India has over 1.6 lakh AB-HWCs, aiming to provide comprehensive primary healthcare, including maternal and child health services, and free essential drugs and diagnostic services. The centers also offer screenings for conditions like hypertension, diabetes, oral, breast, and cervical cancer.
