May 14th, officials from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) will question Alamgir Alam, the Minister of Rural Development in Jharkhand. Alam has been summoned by the ED to their office in Hinoo, Ranchi, at 11 a.m.
Alamgir Alam was sent a summons by the ED on May 12th. The summons instructed him to appear for questioning at the regional office in Ranchi on May 14th at 11 a.m. Along with this, the minister was directed to bring necessary documents related to his income, expenses, and assets. The ED issued this summons to Congress leader Alamgir Alam for questioning in connection with the recovery of 35.23 crore rupees from the homes of his personal secretary Sanjeev Lal and assistant Jahangir Alam.
Alamgir Alam stated that he will respond to the questions posed by the ED. There is no clear information whether Alam will appear before the Enforcement Directorate today. However, he mentioned that he will respond to the notice from the ED. It is anticipated that Alamgir Alam, senior leader of Jharkhand Congress and Minister of Rural Development for the state, might present himself for questioning at the ED office.
Alam’s personal secretary and assistant were arrested by the ED. Recently, Sanjeev Lal, Alam’s personal secretary, and Jahangir Alam, suspended officer of the Jharkhand Administrative Service, were arrested by the ED. They were apprehended on May 7th, and their detention was extended on May 14th. The ED aims to interrogate Minister Alam regarding this matter.
Several facts have emerged during the investigation into corruption allegations involving Chief Engineer Binendra Ram in Jharkhand. Based on these findings, the ED summoned Alamgir Alam for questioning on May 14th at the regional office of the ED in Ranchi.
Alam had been under scrutiny since the investigation into illegal mining in Sahibganj. His name had surfaced in the Barharwa Toll Controversy. Following the recovery of millions in cash from the homes of his personal secretary Sanjeev Lal and assistant Jahangir Alam, the ED issued a summons to them.
