Jharkhand Land Scam
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Antu Tirkey, along with five others, was sent to jail by the PMEL Court on Monday (April 29) in connection with a land scam involving 8.5 acres of land in the Bargaon area of Ranchi. The allegations revolve around manipulation of documents related to the 8.5 acres of land in the Bargaon area. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested JMM leader Antu Tirkey, along with Bipin Singh, Irshad, Priyaranjan Sahay, and Officer Ali, in connection with the case. After the completion of the police custody period, they were presented in the PMEL Court. The court sent all of them to judicial custody at the Birsa Munda Central Jail in Hotwar. In March, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had conducted raids at the Bargain Zonal Office in Ranchi, where large-scale irregularities were found in the land documents. During the raids, the ED team seized several such documents. In this case, Officer Ali was arrested. The ED had identified Officer Ali as a key member of a group involved in fraudulent land deals. Thirty-six fake documents were found in his house by the ED. On that day, the ED team seized crucial documents related to this racket from the zonal office. These documents revealed friendly relations between Officer Ali and the employees and officials of the zonal office.

Based on these documents, the ED team concluded that zonal officials were also involved in defrauding in land business. It is noteworthy that former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren was arrested in connection with the purchase and sale of 8.50 acres of land in the Bargain region of Jharkhand.
