Jharkhand Educational Research and Training Council (JCERT) has released the annual calendar regarding holidays in all of the state government’s crores of schools. The holidays have been determined in all schools accordingly, but the district education officers of four districts including Ranchi have changed the date of the summer vacation while ignoring it.
These include Ranchi, Dumka, Hazaribagh, and Dhanbad. Now, Director Aditya Ranjan of the council has demanded clarification within three days from the district education officers of these four districts and the district education officer of Ranchi, taking it seriously.
The director has ordered these officials to immediately cancel the order related to changes in the calendar and asked under what circumstances the holiday calendar was changed with the approval of the department secretary.
He also asked why departmental action is not being taken against their negligence and arbitrariness. In fact, JCERT has decided the summer vacation in government schools of all districts from May 21, but the duration has been extended in these four districts due to teachers being on duty in the elections. The date of the summer vacation in Ranchi has been extended to May 27 and in other districts as well.
Neither approval was taken from the department nor from JCERT for this. It is worth mentioning that many teacher associations were demanding an extension of the summer vacation, citing the elections, as their holiday was already canceled due to the elections.
