Bokaro Airport is ready to open and greet travellers after a protracted wait. The Civil Aviation Ministry has set February 28 as the eagerly awaited start date for Bokaro to Kolkata and Patna flights. With permission from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Flybig and Alliance Air are the airlines operating these flights, which have the potential to usher in a new era of connectivity for the area.

Tucked away on the grounds of the Bokaro Steel Plant, the renovated Bokaro Airport features state-of-the-art amenities and first-rate infrastructure. A 5400-foot runway that can handle aircraft with 70–80 seats is one of the airport’s primary features. Other amenities include a passenger lobby, a security gate, an ATC tower, and a fire station.

This project is revolutionary for neighbouring districts like Dhanbad, Giridih, Purulia, and more—it’s not only a significant step forward for Bokaro. Apart from providing inhabitants with convenience, the airport has the ability to significantly boost the region’s industrial and tourism potential. MLA Biranchi Narayan of Bokaro voiced the opinion that the long-awaited aspiration of the people of Bokaro is now finally coming true. He was excited to declare that he will be attending the inauguration event and could not wait for January 2024, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open the airport. Bokaro, get ready for takeoff!
