The Forest Department of Jharkhand has issued instructions to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Jharkhand Remote Sensing Application Development Agency (JARDL) to embark on a significant initiative of planting 31,000 saplings along the Ranchi Ring Road.

The planting process will be carried out in a phased manner, commencing from July 2023. The first phase will involve the plantation of 15,000 saplings, followed by the second phase, encompassing 16,000 saplings.

These saplings will be carefully positioned on both sides of the Ring Road, ensuring a distance of 50 meters between each. The selected species for plantation include neem, peepal, arjun, and eucalyptus.

The Forest Department has highlighted that this afforestation drive is an integral part of its overarching goals. With the aim of planting 1 million saplings throughout the state in the current fiscal year, the department intends to create a greener and healthier environment.

The strategic plantation of saplings along the Ring Road will significantly contribute to the betterment of the city’s ecosystem. The presence of these trees will provide shade, mitigate pollution levels, prevent soil erosion, and assist in flood control.

The Forest Department has earnestly appealed to the residents of Ranchi to actively participate in this afforestation drive. Individuals are encouraged to adopt a sapling and assume responsibility for its nurturing.
