Preparations are in full swing as Jharkhand Police gears up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The Police Headquarters has issued orders for all Superintendents of Police (SPs) to train their personnel for election-related duties. Detailed training directives and copies of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been dispatched to all districts.
In a recent directive, the Director-General of Police (DGP) instructed the heads of all training centers, SPs in each district, and unit chiefs to ensure that the Lok Sabha elections are conducted in a clean, unbiased, peaceful, and secure environment. To achieve this, emphasis is being placed on training based on the manual provided by the Election Commission of India from New Delhi.
The training will cover various aspects, from ensuring the safety of polling personnel to strategizing booth supervision. Deployed personnel will be briefed on securing election materials, dealing with anti-social elements, and addressing any disruptions. Special attention will be given to preventing inconvenience to voters, avoiding any form of voter suppression, and handling pressure tactics.
After the official announcement of the elections, a thorough evaluation will be conducted to determine the number of phases, the required deployment of forces, and other critical considerations. This information will be communicated to the Election Commission of India for their awareness. The Jharkhand Police will then send a formal communication to the Ministry of Home Affairs for the deployment of central forces, followed by the final decision on force deployment for election duties.
