Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through a virtual event on Sunday, inaugurated the Light House Project (LHP) in Dhurwa area of Ranchi. This project aims to provide affordable housing to those in need.

During a ceremony held in Ranchi, 10 individuals were given keys to their new homes as a symbolic gesture, stated Aditya Kumar Anand, the director of Directorate of Municipal Administration.

Anand mentioned that all recipients of these housing units can expect to receive their homes in phases by April this year. The foundation stone for this initiative was laid by the Prime Minister via video-conferencing on January 1, 2021.

The LHP initiative has resulted in the construction of 1,008 affordable houses tailored for low-income and middle-class individuals. Each flat will have a carpet area of around 315 square feet.

Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) used a lottery system to select beneficiaries for this project, as explained by an official. The project spans across 7.5 acres of land and incorporates innovative construction technologies called ‘NAVARITIH’ (New, Affordable, Validated, Research Innovation Technologies for Indian Housing), at a cost of ₹134 crore.

This effort is a significant step towards fulfilling the housing needs of the underprivileged and middle-income families in Ranchi.
