Good news for Jharkhand’s Para-Teachers The Hemant government has announced a 10% increase in honorarium for 31,000 para-teachers (assistant teachers). According to information, para-teachers who have successfully passed the assessment exam will benefit from the increased honorarium starting from September 29, 2024. The School Education and Literacy Department has issued directives to all districts regarding this.
Salary Increment Details
According to the details, there will be a ₹1200 increase in honorarium for 25,614 trend para-teachers who have successfully passed the assessment exam from first to fifth, and a ₹1400 increment for 5330 para-teachers who have succeeded from sixth to eighth. The honorarium for para-teachers will be accompanied by the payment of arrears.
Districts have been instructed to send proposals for honorarium increment to successful para-teachers in the respective districts. It was supposed to be implemented from January 2023, but due to not granting authority to municipal corporations, the increment was delayed. Approximately, around five to six thousand para-teachers could not receive the proposed four percent annual increment in their honorarium due to the lack of approval from municipalities and district levels. However, approvals were received from panchayats and block levels in other places, leading to a four percent increment.
Implementation of Increment
It is mentioned that this increment was supposed to happen from January 2023, but it couldn’t take place due to not granting authority to municipal corporations. The State Project Director of the Jharkhand Education Project Council, Kiran Kumari, has issued clear instructions to all districts that the increment in honorarium for trend para-teachers who have successfully passed the assessment exam will be implemented from September 29. Additionally, para-teachers will also receive payment for three months of arrears. However, proposals have not been received from several districts yet, raising doubts about payments for this month.
