ED Raids Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren’s Delhi Home: BMW Seized, Cash and Documents Found

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seized a BMW car, certain questionable documents, and a sum of ₹36 lakhs in cash on Monday night. According to sources, when the ED team arrived at CM Hemant Soren’s house, he was not present, and attempts to establish contact have been unsuccessful so far.

The ED officials, conducting an investigation related to alleged money laundering linked to the Jharkhand land scam, had reached the Chief Minister’s residence at 5/1 Shanti Niketan in South Delhi on Monday morning. As Soren was not found at his residence, the ED officers maintained a vigil outside for 13 hours while conducting a thorough search of the premises.

Sources reveal that during the day-long operation, ED officials seized approximately ₹36 lakhs in cash, a ‘benami’ BMW car with a Haryana registration plate, and some ‘suspicious’ documents. According to insiders familiar with the investigation, ₹36 lakhs in cash was recovered from Hemant Soren’s car.

The 48-year-old Chief Minister had informed the Enforcement Directorate in advance that he was willing to provide his statement at his residence on Wednesday afternoon. Meanwhile, in Ranchi, an official from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) stated that all legislators of the ruling coalition led by JMM in the state have been instructed not to leave the capital and to participate in a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the current political situation in the state.
