Jharkhand Cabinet Announces Revolutionary Changes for JPSC Exam

In a series of impactful decisions stamped on Wednesday, the Jharkhand state government has ushered in significant changes, particularly for the 11th JPSC (Jharkhand Public Service Commission) examination. The state government has granted a seven-year relaxation in both the minimum and maximum age limits for this examination. The calculation for the maximum age will be considered from August 1, 2017, while the minimum age calculation will commence from August 1, 2014. Consequently, all candidates are entitled to a minimum seven-year relaxation.

Key Rules for Appearing in JPSC Exam:

  • Candidates with more than one marriage are ineligible to appear for the examination.
  • Initially, candidates aged between 21 to 35 years were eligible to participate.
  • Various age relaxations were provided for reserved categories.
  • SC, ST, and female candidates must secure 32% marks.
  • Extremely Backward Class candidates require a mandatory 34% marks.
  • OBC candidates are obligated to score 36.5% marks.
  • Economically Weaker Section candidates must achieve a compulsory 40% marks.

Other Cabinet Decisions:

  • The state government has relaxed the home loan regulations for government employees. Now, they can avail loans up to 60 lakhs without the need for any land collateral.
  • Women above 50 years in the state will now receive old-age pension; previously, this pension was only granted to individuals aged 60 or above.
  • The government has approved the upgrade of 140 middle schools to higher secondary schools.
  • A separate court has been established to expedite cases related to the Child Abuse Intervention and Diagnosis Unit (CAIDU).
  • The Finance Department has regularized a dozen irregular employees.
  • The Women and Child Development Department’s proposal for distributing maternity kits to pregnant women has been approved. Each kit is estimated to cost Rs. 1500, benefiting approximately six lakh women.
