Dhanbad Railway Division Leads Indian Railways in Freight Loading and Revenue Generation
In a remarkable achievement, the Dhanbad division of the East Central Railway has emerged as the top-performing division among the 70 divisions of Indian Railways in terms of freight loading and revenue generated through freight loading for the current financial year, starting from April 2023.
Kamal Kishore Sinha, the divisional railway manager of the Dhanbad division, proudly announced that the division has successfully loaded a whopping 77.79 million metric tons (MT) of freight. This impressive figure represents an 8.06% increase compared to the 71.99 MT of freight loaded during the same period in the previous year.
Furthermore, the Dhanbad division has set a new record by generating an income of ₹10,413.27 crore through freight loading during the current financial year to date. This achievement not only surpasses all other divisions but also reflects a remarkable 13.20% increase over the income of ₹9,199.32 crore earned during the corresponding period in the previous year.
August witnessed another outstanding performance by the division as it secured the top position in the country for freight loading. The division loaded an impressive 15.80 MT of freight, marking a substantial 19.52% increase compared to the 13.22 MT loaded in the same month the previous year.
Moreover, the Dhanbad division achieved substantial financial success in August, generating an income of ₹2,124.40 crore through freight loading. This reflects a remarkable 25.96% increase over the income of ₹1,686.51 crore generated during the same month the previous year.
According to the quarterly report, the Dhanbad Division maintained its impressive performance by loading 61.99 MT of freight between April and July 2023, which is the highest in the country. The Bilaspur Division secured the second position with 53.86 MT of freight loading, and the Khurda Road Division of the East Coast Railway claimed the third position by loading 50.64 MT.
In terms of income generated through freight loading during the first quarter from April to July 2023, the Dhanbad Division once again led the country with earnings of ₹8,288.87 crore. The Bilaspur and Khurda Road divisions remained at the second and third positions, respectively, with earnings of ₹6,668.28 crore and ₹4,562.21 crore.
