In a significant development, President Draupadi Murmu, a prominent figure from Jharkhand, has announced the appointment of Raghubar Das, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as the new Governor of Odisha. The official declaration was made on Wednesday, marking the end of Ganeshi Lal’s term, which concluded on October 18.

Raghubar Das, renowned as the first non-tribal Chief Minister of Jharkhand, served the state from 2014 to 2019. His political journey took a turn in the 2019 state elections when he faced defeat in his assembly seat, Jamshedpur East, losing to his former cabinet colleague, Saryu Roy.

With this appointment, Das steps into the role of Odisha’s Governor, a state where the BJP is striving to strengthen its roots and pose a challenge to the existing ruling party, Biju Janata Dal (BJD), led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

This development is expected to bring a new wave of political dynamics to Odisha, as the state anticipates the strategies and policies that will unfold under Governor Raghubar Das’s tenure. Stay tuned for further updates on this evolving story
