The month of October is set to witness Panchayat elections in Jharkhand, and preparations are already underway to elect Panchayat representatives for vacant seats. The Chief Electoral Officer of the state, DK Tiwari, has issued directives to all officials, urging them to begin preparations for elections in October and November.

Elections Mandated by State Government

The letters sent to the officials emphasize the importance of using the May 31, 2023, voter list as the foundation for preparing voter lists. The District Development Officers of all blocks have been assigned this task. Following the distribution and publication of voter lists, the elections will be held as per the instructions of the state government.

In Bokaro district alone, there are 104 vacant Ward Member seats. Some locations have experienced resignations, while others have received no nominations. The highest number of vacant seats is in Chandankiyari and Gomia.
