Election Commission is serious about voters casting their votes through postal ballot papers. It’s happening for the first time in Jharkhand, where voters casting their votes through postal ballots will have a District Exchange Facility.
Through this, the Election Commission will not only provide voting facilities to those voters near the original polling centers in different districts but also ensure the process of voting by exchanging the ballot papers between the relevant districts. For this, preparations are underway to complete the entire process in the presence of representatives of various parties besides the candidates standing in the elections or their representatives on different dates decided by the Commission.
A meeting will be held on Friday, April 26, at the Chief Electoral Officer’s office regarding this. Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Neha Aroda said that the arrangement of postal ballot district exchange is happening for the first time in Jharkhand, which will be on dates determined in various phases.
In Jharkhand, 1.75 lakh service voters have applied for postal ballots.
The Election Commission has issued two types of applications for voting through postal ballots. Under this, Form 12 is filled by the election-related workers for postal ballots. So far, the Commission has received applications from 1,75,993 service voters. In addition to this, Form 12 D is for absentee voters, which includes senior citizens, disabled, and voters connected to essential services.
According to Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Neha Aroda, 2,189 senior citizens, 1,755 disabled, and 4,616 media personnel have applied in absentee voters. Through a press conference in Ranchi, the Deputy Chief Electoral Officer shared all this information with the media.
