The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has significantly disrupted academic activities across various universities and colleges in Jharkhand. Despite these challenges, a commendable initiative has emerged as some dedicated teachers step forward to assist students from other institutions by conducting online classes. In addition to teaching their own subjects, these educators offer valuable guidance and counseling to students experiencing difficulties in their studies.

Dr. Rajesh Kumar, an associate professor of commerce at Ranchi University, exemplifies this spirit of generosity. Since March 2020, he has been conducting online classes for students from Vinoba Bhave University, Kolhan University, and Nilamber Pitamber University. Dr. Kumar initiated this effort in response to requests from students who were unable to attend their regular classes due to lockdown restrictions. Subjects such as accounting, taxation, auditing, and business law are part of his curriculum for students from various universities.

Crucially, Dr. Kumar emphasizes that he provides these online classes without any charge, driven solely by his passion for teaching and commitment to student welfare. Utilizing platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, and WhatsApp, he ensures effective class delivery and supplements the learning experience by sharing notes and assignments via email. Students have expressed their appreciation for his efforts and dedication, providing positive feedback.

Similarly contributing to this noble cause is Dr. Rakesh Kumar Singh, an assistant professor of physics at St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi. Since April 2020, he has been offering online classes to students from Ranchi University, Central University of Jharkhand, and Birla Institute of Technology, covering subjects such as quantum mechanics, nuclear physics, and solid-state physics.

Like Dr. Kumar, Dr. Singh refrains from charging any fees for his online classes, viewing it as a social responsibility and a means of contributing to society. Using YouTube to upload lectures and interacting with students through WhatsApp and email, Dr. Singh has received positive responses from students expressing gratitude for his support.

Both Dr. Kumar and Dr. Singh are committed to continuing their online classes until the situation improves and regular classes can resume. Their dedication reflects a desire to share knowledge and experience with students from different universities, with the hope that these online classes will prove beneficial in their academic pursuits.
