Anti-Illegal Mining Operation

Mining Department took significant action late Tuesday night against illegal mining, seizing 15 heavy vehicles. Additionally, two JCB machines used for loading sand from the river were also confiscated. These actions led by Mining Officer Naresh Singh have sent shockwaves through the illegal mining mafia.

Naresh Singh explained that they had been receiving continuous reports of illegal sand mining and transportation from the river in Bakaspur. The Mining Department formed a small team to blockade Bakaspur and Jariagad areas, capturing vehicles that were later found on the roads. Furthermore, several other vehicles, including JCBs, were seized from the location where heavy loads of sand were being transported.

Heavy Police Deployment

Due to the late hour, all vehicles were handed over to the Jariagad police. A significant number of police forces are also present due to the forested area, ensuring that the mafia cannot escape with the vehicles. Singh mentioned that the process of prioritizing the seized vehicles will begin from Wednesday onwards. The area has been a hotspot for illegal sand mining by the sixty-member gang of prominent sand mafia from Ranchi and Khunti. These crackdowns will continue in the future.

According to sources, the seized vehicles belong to a smuggler based in Bajra, Ranchi, who was consistently involved in illegal sand excavation and transportation from the area.
