Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is set to participate in the upcoming meeting of opposition unity scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on July 18. The meeting is being organized by the Congress party.

Being the chairman of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), a key constituent of the opposition Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) in Bihar, Soren’s presence holds significance. The Mahagathbandhan currently holds power in Bihar.

The Bengaluru meeting is seen as a concerted effort by opposition parties to forge a united front against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Presently, the BJP holds power at the central level as well as in several states.

During the meeting, Soren is expected to engage in discussions with other opposition leaders regarding the political scenario in Jharkhand and Bihar. He will also present the JMM’s plans for the upcoming elections.

The meeting in Bengaluru will witness the presence of leaders from various opposition parties, including the Congress, Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Rashtriya Janata Dal.

The opposition parties aim to utilize this meeting to establish a consensus on a common platform and strategize for the forthcoming elections. Additionally, they seek to form alliances with regional parties that are not aligned with the BJP.

The Bengaluru meeting holds significance as it signifies the ongoing political realignment in India and demonstrates the opposition parties’ determination to challenge the BJP in the upcoming elections.
