The administration has decided to conduct the PhD entrance exam for the year 2024, including nearly 68% of the remaining seats from the 2023 admissions along with other new seats. The exam is scheduled to take place in the last week of April. The process of filling out forms and other necessary requirements to participate in the exam will commence soon. Additionally, PG Semester Four (Session 2022-24) students will also be eligible to appear for this exam, with results expected to be announced in May 2024.
Formation of Examination Committee: Notification Issued
Under the direction of Dr. Ajit Kumar Sinha, the Chancellor, a committee has been formed to organize the examination. The notification for this committee has also been issued. Dr. Ashish Kumar Jha has been appointed as the Convener of the committee. The committee includes members such as Dr. Sudesh Kumar Sahu from DSW, Dr. Mukund Chandra Mehta from Proctor, Dr. AK Chattoraj from the Commerce Dean, Dr. Archana Dubey from the Humanities Dean, Dr. Arun Kumar from the Science Dean, and Dr. Madhumita Das from the Social Science Dean. The committee will study the reservation roster and regulations for further actions.
Handling of Complaints and Grievances
Furthermore, a separate committee has been formed to review complaints raised by several candidates related to the PhD entrance exam 2023. Dr. Ashish Kumar Jha has been appointed as the Convener of this committee as well. The committee includes Dr. Sudesh Kumar Sahu from DSW, Dr. Mukund Chandra Mehta from Proctor, Dr. Arun Kumar from the Science Dean, and Dr. Preetam Kumar from the Deputy Registrar – One, as members.
JET to Conduct PhD Entrance Exam
On another note, the state government has also decided to conduct the PhD entrance exam through the Jharkhand Eligibility Test (JET), as per the notification issued on February 21. This decision might lead to technical issues before the university. The Governor cum Chancellor has also mentioned the possibility of conducting the PhD entrance exam under the UGC Regulation 2022. In this regard, a committee formed by the university administration will review the entire matter.
