NPTC Achieves 83% Growth in Coal Production: Fuelling Regional Energy Needs



In a significant development, NPTC Ltd. proudly announced an astounding 83% growth in coal production from its four captive mines situated in Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh during the initial half of the fiscal year 2023-24. This remarkable surge in production, totaling 16.05 million metric tonnes (MMT) of coal from April to September, stands as a testament to the company’s commitment to bolstering energy resources across regions.{NPTC Achieves 83%}

Production Expansion and Mines:

NPTC Ltd. operates two coal mines in Jharkhand, namely Pakri-Barwadih and Chatti-Bariatu, and two more in Dulanga of Odisha and Talaipallin of Chhattisgarh. Notably, the company has initiated mining operations in the Kerendari mine of Jharkhand, anticipating the commencement of production later this year. This expansion not only augments the company’s coal output but also contributes significantly to the energy sector’s growth.

Focus on Mining Business:

In a strategic move, NPTC Ltd. established a subsidiary, NTPC Mining Limited (NML), emphasizing its dedication to enhancing the mining sector. This step underscores the company’s vision for a robust mining business, ensuring sustainable energy production in the future. The collaboration between NPTC and NML, evident in the signed business transfer agreement in August, reaffirms their commitment to the sector’s progress.
