In response to the rising demand for passports and a commitment to improving citizen services, a modern Passport Seva Kendra is set to open its doors in the Mimech IT Park, Namkum Industrial Area. This new facility will replace the existing Passport Seva Kendra in Ranchi and is expected to begin operations within the next few months. Notably, the upgraded center will have the capacity to process passport applications for a minimum of 700 applicants per day.

Regional Passport Officer, Manita Kumari, announced this development during a press briefing, emphasizing the concerted efforts of the Regional Passport Office, Ranchi, and the Ministry of External Affairs to enhance services for the people of Jharkhand. Kumari revealed that the Ministry of External Affairs has greenlit the construction of a new Regional Passport Office building in Nagdi, Ranchi. This building will not only house the Regional Passport Office but also accommodate other people-centric departments under the Ministry of External Affairs. Moreover, there are plans to transition all passport offices in Jharkhand from offline to online services in the near future.

Kumari also shared that the Post Office Passport Seva Kendras in Gumla and Giridih are undergoing the transformation from offline to online mode. This transition will enable the Ranchi Passport Office to efficiently process applications from these centers in real time. Additionally, a new Post Office Passport Seva Kendra is being established at the main post office in Godda, becoming the 16th passport application center in Jharkhand. It is set to be inaugurated by Godda MP, Nishikant Dubey. Furthermore, Passport Seva Kendras in Regional Passport Office, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, and Chaibasa Post Office are being upgraded to handle a higher volume of passport applications, reflecting the Ministry of External Affairs’ continuous commitment to improving services in Jharkhand.

Addressing passport application requirements, Kumari explained that applicants need to provide two proofs, one for date of birth and the other for identity, such as Aadhaar and a bank passbook. PAN cards or bank passbooks can also be submitted. Address proof is mandatory, and government employees can submit joining letters issued by the government. For expedited passport issuance, applicants can choose urgent processing for an additional fee. Standard passport processing typically takes about 15 days.

The establishment of this new Passport Seva Kendra is poised to simplify and expedite the passport application process for the residents of Ranchi and the surrounding regions, further enhancing government services in Jharkhand.
