Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Sushil Modi, has passed away. Today, his mortal remains will be brought from Delhi to Patna, where his final rites will be performed according to Hindu customs. He had been battling cancer for some time now. He had shared on social media that he had been fighting cancer for the past six months. Due to this, he had also informed Prime Minister Modi that he wouldn’t be able to participate much in the Lok Sabha elections. Unfortunately, he passed away on Monday during treatment in Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Sushil Modi’s contributions and wrote in his post, “I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of my valued colleague and longtime friend, Sushil Modi ji. His invaluable contribution played a significant role in the rise of BJP in Bihar and its successes. He carved out a distinct identity in student politics while vehemently opposing the Emergency. His active role in the passage of GST will always be remembered.”
