In a groundbreaking move, students attending government schools in India are set to receive a stipend of ₹1200 directly into their bank accounts during their internships. To avail this benefit, students undertaking vocational education must ensure they have an active bank account, as the stipend amount will be directly debited into their accounts. The initiative, announced during a meeting at the Jharkhand Education Project Office on Friday, aims to financially support students engaged in vocational education.
As part of this initiative, students undergoing vocational education will also receive a certification upon completion of their internship. Moreover, vocational trainers will be incentivized with financial support. Each student is required to contribute ₹75 towards the program.
Currently, the vocational education program encompasses 11 different fields, and students from classes 11 and 12 in 446 schools across the state will partake in internships. Officials have been instructed to diligently inspect workplaces to ensure the safety and comfort of students. This includes evaluating the behavior of institutions towards students, assessing the students’ engagement in their tasks, and regularly monitoring these aspects.
The initiative also emphasizes the importance of industrial visits, ensuring they are educational and not just treated as picnics. To facilitate this, schools will receive a grant of ₹7500 per visit for industrial excursions, ensuring that students gain valuable insights into the industrial world.
This move not only financially empowers students but also promotes practical learning, bridging the gap between education and industry experience. The direct cash transfers signify a significant step towards creating a skilled and empowered workforce in India’s education landscape. Stay tuned for more updates on this transformative initiative!
